Terms of Use
Last updated: 2026-04-19
These Terms govern your use of NZTaxTools (nztax.tools, "the Site"). By accessing or
using the Site you agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
1. What we provide
NZTaxTools is a collection of free tax calculators and explanatory content relating to New Zealand taxation. Calculations run in your browser using published Inland Revenue (IRD) and ACC rates. We may update, withdraw, or modify calculators and content at any time without notice.
2. Not tax advice
All content and calculator output is provided for general informational and educational purposes only. It is not tax, legal, accounting, or financial advice, and does not create any adviser–client relationship.
Tax rules change and individual circumstances vary. Before relying on any figure, verify it with Inland Revenue (IRD) or consult a registered tax agent or chartered accountant.
3. No warranty of accuracy
While we take reasonable care to reflect published IRD and ACC rates correctly, we make no warranty that the Site, its calculations, or its content are accurate, complete, current, or fit for any particular purpose. Where an edge case is ambiguous, the calculator uses a documented assumption stated in the Methodology.
4. Intellectual property
All text, design, code, and data compilations on the Site are owned by or licensed to NZTaxTools and are protected by New Zealand copyright. You may view and print pages for personal, non-commercial use. You may not:
- republish content on another website;
- scrape, mirror, or systematically extract the calculators or their output;
- sell, sub-license, or commercially exploit any part of the Site; or
- remove copyright, trade-mark, or attribution notices.
IRD publications referenced from the Site are Crown copyright; see IRD's copyright statement.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Site for any unlawful purpose;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access, probe for vulnerabilities, or disrupt service availability;
- introduce malware, excessive automated traffic, or scraping in breach of section 4.
6. Third-party links and ads
The Site links to third-party websites and displays advertisements served by Google AdSense. We do not control and are not responsible for those third parties' content, accuracy, or data handling.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by New Zealand law, NZTaxTools and its operator are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential loss (including lost tax refunds, penalties, use-of-money interest, or business loss) arising from reliance on the Site. Nothing in these Terms limits consumer rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 where such rights cannot be contracted out of.
8. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates the most recent revision. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance.
9. Governing law
These Terms and any dispute arising out of them are governed by the laws of New Zealand. The parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
